The Chancel choir is under the direction of Bob Gunn and currently has 16 members. Choir rehearsals
are held Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. The music
selection ranges from plainsong chant to 21st century
compositions. If you are interested in joining the
choir, contact any choir member or Bob Gunn at bgunn@stmaryslagunabeach.org.
The Choir President also serves as director on a
volunteer basis to the Children’s Chapel Singers. The
children sing at the offertory the first Sunday of every

Baptism
Holy Baptism is full
initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into
Christ's Body the Church. The bond which God
establishes in Baptism is indissoluble. Each
candidate for baptism is to be sponsored by one
or more baptized persons, called godparents.
Parents may be included among the godparents of
their own children. Parents and godparents
receive instruction in the meaning of baptism
and their responsibilities for the spiritual
nurture of the new members of the church (Book
of Common Prayer, p. 298).
Holy Baptism is generally reserved for the
following days: The First Sunday after the
Epiphany, The Easter Vigil, The Day of
Pentecost, All Saints' Day or the Sunday after
All Saints Day. Baptisms may also be performed
at other times, normally within the context of
Holy Eucharist, as the chief service on a Sunday
or other feast as approved by clergy.
For information about baptisms
please contact the church office, or see Rev.
Elizabeth and/or Rev. Pat. |

The Columbarium and Memorial Garden
The church has been our spiritual home
during our life time, therefore, it is fitting
that it be our final resting place in death. The
Columbarium and Memorial Garden at St. Mary’s
provides a beautiful and peaceful sacred space
for remembering and celebrating the lives of our
beloved family members and fellow parishioners.
The Columbarium and Memorial Garden was
consecrated by the Right Rev. Robert M. Anderson
in April, 2004.
Niches are available to present and former
members and members of their families. At the
church’s discretion, spaces may be allocated to
others who have had a relationship to St.
Mary’s.
Parishioners and friends of the parish may
purchase memorial plaques. The plaques are made
of the same granite as that covering the niches
of the Columbarium and will be etched with the
person’s legal name and date of birth and death.
The plaques will be attached to the East wall of
the church, facing the Columbarium and garden.
If you are interested in purchasing a niche or
memorial plaque, please call the church office
at (949) 494-3542 for costs and further details.
